Be my eyes ; lend your eyes to the blind

Would you like to lend your eyes to blind persons, even on the other side of the world? This is the proposal of Be My Eyes application, which is much talked about in recent days and represents a small revolution for the partially sighted.

The idea is to connect a blind to the whole community via live video chat that can respond immediately to his request, for example When a blind person is alone at home and needs help in a particular situation, have any information on the expiration date of a product, read the packaging of a drug, or decrypt an address, it may request the intervention of a volunteer through the application.

In practice, a notification is sent to a volunteer when a person with low vision needs help.
He can then accept using the camera and the microphone of his/her smartphone to help him or refuse the request if it is not available. It will be simply transferred to another user. The application and service are free.

It’s my hope that by helping each other as an online community, Be My Eyes will make a big difference in the everyday lives of blind people all over the world” emphasizes its founder Hans Jorgen Wiberg on the company’s website.
